Ray Dinkins facilitated an amazing Q & A session between very important state and local officials and the students who participate in the classes. There was never a time in the meeting that students didn't have their hands up to share how WCST's prevention classes have positively impacted their lives. | Students in WCST's prevention classes at GPHS and Gladiola fill the PAC Lecture Hall to tell school board members, administrators, state officials, and community foundations the necessity of our efforts to end violence and build community. So many students wanted to share their experience of achieving safety, choosing alternatives to violence, and building community...we ran out of time. There was so much more they wanted to say!!! |
Tuesday,May 19, 2015, 80 GPHS and Gladiola students gathered to tell school administrators, members of the Oregon Attorney General's Sexual Assault Task Force, District 7 school board members, and members of the Gordon Elwood Foundation how WCST's ongoing school-based Prevention classes have positively impacted their lives. The group represented about 3/4 of the students we serve, but they gave a 100% amazing account of the work we do together to end violence and build community. It was an emotionally charged hour of celebrating student strength and safety in ending gender based violence in our community!
