Women's Crisis Support Team (WCST) is a non-profit organization in Josephine County dedicated to ending the cycle of domestic violence and sexual assault in Josephine County through intervention, prevention, and safe shelter.
Position Summary:
The Intervention Coordinator is responsible for intervention program planning and management, direct client services, statistical reporting and participation in grant writing, grant administration and reporting. The Intervention Coordinator is also a lead position responsible for supervising direct reports within the Intervention Department ensuring appropriate scheduling and control of the daily working arrangements to produce quality work. This position reports directly to the Executive Director.
Applicants must live in Josephine County and must be able to respond within twenty (20) minutes to Talsunne Safe Shelter, Three Rivers Community, Grants Pass Public Safety and Josephine County Sheriff requests for in-person advocacy.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The primary duty of the Intervention Coordinator is to manage consistent advocacy response to the crisis line and requests for personal and crisis advocacy. This position is:
- Responsible for scheduling Intervention staff and volunteers, supervising their work, and making arrangements to cover vacation, sick, and training absences. Reviews and approves timesheets
- Supervises out-stationed intervention advocates at DHS SS & CW
- Responsible for budget management of the Intervention program, including conferring with the Executive Director about necessary expenditures and assuring that all documentation is complete
- Responsible for annual evaluation, recommendations, work plans, and corrective measures for Intervention staff. Approves training requests.
- Regularly confers with the Executive Director regarding the Intervention program direction and policies
- Responsible for gathering and organization of all statistical documentation for support of clients in all WCST programs
- Represent WCST at community partner meetings
- Answer the 24/7 crisis line and provide phone advocacy
- Provide in-person direct services to clients including crisis intervention, advocacy-based counseling, legal and medical advocacy, information and referrals, safety planning, and other supportive services
- Access all needed resources and information for survivors
- Help survivors obtain Temporary Restraining Orders, Elder Abuse Restraining Orders, Sexual Assault and Stalking Orders, and advocacy in both civil and criminal courts
- Provide transportation for people we serve
- Provide Client Feedback forms to persons served
- Log statistical information for monthly statistical reporting
- Facilitate the Family Abuse Awareness Class for both men and women
- Provide presentations on agency services and on issues of DV or SA to community groups
- Assist with and participate in agency events including outreach and educational activities
- Appropriately manage confidential information and implement best practice strategies to improve systemic confidentiality within the organization
- Model appropriate advocacy skills to staff and volunteers
- Respond after hours to requests for emergency in-person advocacy for survivors of domestic violence or sexual assault on a 24/7 basis during the rotation week
- Attend staff meetings of the WCST and to attend any mandatory staff trainings
- Knowledge of various court and legal proceedings and documents to communicate to the survivors we serve. This includes TRO hearings, TRO show cause, stalking orders, Elder Abuse Restraining Orders, divorce and custody issues, Grand Jury, trials, and other legal issues that may arise.
- Knowledge of the mandates and constraints of various partner agencies, including DHS SS/CW, UCAN/RSVP, Options Mental Health, Disability Services, Senior and Disability Services, Housing Council, and other DV victim service organizations.
- Knowledge and network within the Sheriff's Dept. and Grants Pass Public Safety, Community Justice, and the DA's office.
- Act as a WCST representative for various community organizations and agencies. This includes attending meetings, advocating for the needs of survivors, making decisions when appropriate, being active in partnerships, and bringing back issues to staff and the Director. Act as a WCST representative in agency meetings such as: SART, SATF, DV Council, Elder/Disabled MDT, and Housing Council.
- Bachelor's degree in Psychology, Sociology, Women's Studies or a related field preferred with 3 or more years of experience in DV/SA victim assistance work
- Ability to lead with experience in a supervisory or managerial role
- Knowledge and ability to work with people from diverse backgrounds and underserved communities
- Bilingual (English-Spanish) preferred
- Knowledge and understanding of the dynamics of domestic violence, sexual assault and the impact on adult and child survivors
- Knowledge of community advocacy, peer counseling, and agency networking.
- Demonstrated ability to remain calm, make sound decisions, give clear direction and provide strong leadership in crisis situations
- Must have excellent judgment, communication and strong interpersonal skills. Must be well organized, creative, empathetic and people oriented
- Capable of making informed, independent decisions on behalf of survivors served on a regular basis
- Capable of creative problem-solving in overcoming barriers for the survivors we serve and helping them develop alternatives
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and Google+ (email, calendar, docs)
- Must have transportation, current insurance coverage, and a valid driver's license. Background check and DMV Driving Record review required
The DV/SA Intervention Coordinator will be a primary connector with other service agencies in the community, developing an understanding of all programs, their restrictions and entry points, and advocating with their staff for services to clients.
The DV/SA Intervention Coordinator will be required to provide requested training on domestic violence and associated issues to agency partners, WCST staff and volunteers, and to shelter residents. This position may be called on to provide volunteer training presentations and serve as a mentor for volunteers who are shadowing office procedures or crisis response.
