Job Title: DV/SA Intervention Advocate - FT
Department: Intervention
Supervisor: Intervention Coordinator
Location: Public Office
FLSA Status: non-exempt
Hours/week: 40 hours per week, this position also requires participation in rotating/shared on-call crisis response shifts after regular hours and on weekends
Wage: DOE + benefits (Health Insurance, PTO, Life Insurance), additional shift pay for on call and response time.
Required: Applicants must live in Josephine County and must be able to respond within twenty (20) minutes to Talsunne Safe Shelter, Three Rivers Community, Grants Pass Public Safety and Josephine County Sheriff requests for in-person advocacy.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The DV/SA Intervention Advocate will be a primary connector with other service agencies in the community, developing an understanding of all programs, their restrictions and entry points, and advocating with their staff for services to clients.
Working with the Intervention Coordinator, the DV/SA Intervention Advocate will assist in gathering statistical documentation of volunteer hours and client contacts.
Because of the complex nature of the work of WCST, the DV/SA Intervention Advocate may be asked to fill in for the duties of an absent or sick staff member when appropriate.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Answer the DV/SA crisis line and provide phone advocacy
- Provide in-person direct services to clients including crisis intervention, advocacy-based counseling, legal and medical advocacy, information and referrals, safety planning, and other supportive services
- Facilitate access to needed resources and information for survivors
- Help survivors obtain Temporary Restraining Orders, Elder Abuse Restraining Orders, Sexual Assault and Stalking Orders, and advocacy in both civil and criminal courts
- Participate in after hours crisis response rotation providing emergency in-person advocacy for survivors of domestic violence or sexual assault
- Provide transportation for people we serve
- Log statistical information for monthly statistical reporting
- Facilitate the Family Abuse Awareness Class for both men and women
- May be asked to represent WCST at community partner meetings
- Appropriately manage confidential information
- Attend staff meetings of WCST and attend any mandatory staff trainings
- Other duties as assigned
- AA/BA with an emphasis on crisis intervention or a minimum of 2 years of experience in crisis intervention
- Successful completion of Women’s Crisis Support Team 40+ hour advocacy training program (may be completed after hire)
- Knowledge and ability to work with people from diverse backgrounds and underserved communities.
- Bilingual (English-Spanish) and/or Bicultural preferred
- Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the dynamics of domestic violence, sexual assault and the impact on adult and child survivors
- Knowledge of community advocacy, peer counseling, and agency networking.
- Demonstrated ability to remain calm, make sound decisions, give clear direction and provide strong leadership in crisis situations
- Experience working with survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault and stalking preferred
- Must have excellent judgment, communication and strong interpersonal skills. Must be well organized, creative, empathetic and people oriented
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and Google+ (email, calendar, docs)
- Must have transportation, current insurance coverage, and a valid driver’s license. Background check and DMV Driving Record review required

Full Job DescriptionWCST is seeking dependable, compassionate individuals who are self-motivated and capable of working independently to staff our emergency safe shelter PT evenings, weekends, and holidays. Become a part of our small team delivering emergency safe shelter to survivors and children fleeing domestic and sexual violence. Successful candidates will be capable of general home maintenance, house keeping, and physical plant upkeep. The ideal candidates will demonstrate qualities making them suitable for group living situations such as sensitivity, flexibility, emotional maturity, the ability to deal with frustration and conflict, a sense of humor, and a capacity to respect persons with differing lifestyles and philosophies. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assure shelter premises are safe, clean, and orderly by performing cleaning, sanitizing, and general maintenance.
- Provide oversight during the shift and keep the shelter running smoothly.
- Complete necessary program documentation, inputting daily statistics
- Orient new residents to the Safe House and WCST services and properly manage intake and exit processes. Provide advocacy, education and support for residents
- Answer crisis line and respond to intervention calls for advocacy from law enforcement or the hospital; provide information and referrals; provide safety planning, crisis intervention and screening for the Safe House; and other WCST services
- Provide transportation for shelter residents or off site victims.
- Attend meetings and trainings as assigned.
- Represent the mission, values and philosophy of WCST to program participants, staff and to the general public
